...............Lionel BORLA was born
on august 3, 1974 in the south of France, more exactly in the
city of Menton, just a step away from Italy, the country where
his great-grandparents were born. He spends his childhood in the
village of Breil-sur-Roya, at forty kilometers from his home town.
In 1987, he discovers the piano et keyboards. From 1990 to 1992,
he lives between Breil-sur-Roya and Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, the
city where he pursues his studies at Saint-Joseph secondary school.

...............He leaves the French Riviera for Provence at the end of 1992 , in order to follow the courses of the School of Architecture of Marseille. His studies are marqued out by various professionnal experiences in varied structures (firms of architects, agency of naval architecture, urban furniture design firm). Lionel Borla chooses Marseille to cast the anchor. There, he presents his inks and watercolours on paper for the first time in july 1998. Between the preparation of his diploma and his military service as a sapper-architect in the Genius Establishment of Montpellier, he pursues his pictorial researches. In 1998, he obtains his d.p.l.g. degree in architecture by presenting a project of Contemporary Art Center at the Estaque. He also tries to present the influences of modern painting on the architecture of the first part of the XX th century. Since 1994, year where he followed Claude Clément and Georges Felici's courses of plastic arts, painting has been taking avantage over architecture. |
| ...............In 1998, he also decides to make discover Barcelona to his wife. By the way of the Museum Picasso, he dicovers the Art Contrast Gallery and presents some of his works. It is the start of his collaboration with art galleries. In 1999, he presents his work at the gallery Espace Castillon inToulon. The same year his paintings are presented to severals summer exhibitions all around Provence. The success encountered by his work pushes him to become a professionnal artist painter in 2000, and to register to the House of Artists. Today, Lionel BORLA makes permanent exhibitions in New York, Barcelona, Marseille, Saint-Rémy de Provence, Les Baux-de-Provence, Lourmarin, Toulon, Le Lavandou, et Aubagne. |
